Spice It Up
I thought I'd start off with something that seemed like an obvious "illustration" and not an attempt to recreate an exact likeness. I'd heard Promarkers bleed in Moleskines so I tried coloured pencils instead. My original intention had been to fill the book with black ink pictures so colour hadn't really been on my mind, but I discovered the beautiful work of Andrea Joseph and the way she uses coloured pens mesmerised me. Being lazy, I thought I might recreate something similar - quicker - with coloured pencils.
I'm not displeased with the result, but the paper is fairly smooth and doesn't grab the pigment too well. Also, dragging a pen over the waxy pencil can't be that good for the tip either. It was worth an experiment, but probably not something I'd repeat in a hurry.
